104 Process Engineer - Medical Manufacturing / R&D

The Process Engineer will use their past product development experience to design, develop, implement and maintain manufacturing processes for a major medical device manufacturing company. The successful candidate MUST have medical device manufacturing experience with electro-mechanical capital equipment.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Utilize continuous manufacturing methods and technologies in the scale up and automation of manufacturing processes.
  • Understand and apply statistical process control (SPC)
  • Work on new product development teams designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining manufacturing, assembly, test, and packaging processes.  Ensures that time lines, cost and quality expectations are met.
  • Develop new techniques for manufacturing, assembly and test, including test fixtures, with DOE and validating new processes, evaluate failure data from field to find root cause and implement sound engineering solutions.
  • Provide continuous engineering support on assigned products to maintain and improve margin, performance and quality.
  • Work with R&D team leader to deliver acceptable documentation on product (including but not limited to: Manufacturing techniques and processes, Assembly and test fixtures, Routers, MPI, Test methods, Drawings and Specs) in a timely manner.
  • Participate and Manage (as required) prototype builds, engineering builds, verification and validation builds, and provide technical data/ report to the team leader.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality system and all relevant internal procedures and policies (including but not limited to: ECN, NCR, CPR, BOM, Router, MPI/ SOP).
  • Work on cost reduction projects to reduce material/ process costs by defining and implementing new techniques and equipment/ fixtures for manufacturing, assembly and test.  This may require developing innovative manufacturing techniques, designing fixtures and implementing in manufacturing facilities.
  • Assist and lead product and process transfers to various in house or external manufacturing facilities (DFM, DFT)

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Biomedical, Manufacturing or  Engineering preferred)
  • Master of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Biomedical, Manufacturing or  Engineering preferred).

Position Requirements:

  • At least 7 years work experience to include 3 years in Product Development of  medical device
  • Experience in medical devices and biomaterials a plus.
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills.  Fluency in Spanish a plus.
  • Ability to plan and schedule multiple projects and tasks. 
  • Ability to make rapid and sound decisions.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office Suite and MS project.
  • Have the ability to conduct design for manufacturability and inspectability assessments.
  • Be able to work with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Have a clear understanding of MRP and document control software.
