Position Summary:
The client company is a worldwide leader in medical products, manufacturing, distributing, and marketing high quality capital equipment and consumable medical devices. The company is seeking a Vice-President of Marketing and Business Development. This position will be responsible for both US and European Sales & Marketing of the product line, with emphasis on the execution of US clinical trials’ from a sales and marketing perspective. This individual will be responsible for the planning and management of operations of US clinical trials, marketing plans, sales projections, pricing, promotion, inventory management, reimbursement, exhibitions, and building a sales organization, and supervision of sales forces. In addition this person will be in charge of the planning and implementation of marketing related tasks, and achievement of sales goals through direct sales and marketing organization or through distributor(s), in collaboration with the distribution team in the European Union.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Planning and management of operations of US clinical trials (site selection, patient enrollment, sales, marketing, and customer care)
- Planning and implementation of a marketing plan, sales projections, pricing, promotion, inventory management, reimbursement, and exhibitions
- Building a marketing organization
- Supervising marketing managers and product managers
- Building a sales organization, and supervising sales forces to achieve sales goals
- Planning and implementation of marketing related tasks in
Europe - Achievement of sales goals through direct sales and marketing organization or through distributors
- Collaboration with the distribution team in the European Union
- Participate in project performance team meetings on behalf of the job unit in order to provide ideas, methods or processes for performance improvement
- Participate on the Operating Committee and on acquisition due diligence teams
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or Life Sciences
- MBA preferred
Position Requirements:
- 15 years business experience in cardiovascular implantable devices
- A minimum of 5 years in a senior sales and/or marketing decision making role with cardiovascular device companies
- Excellent interpersonal skills, especially with customers, including physicians and surgeons
- Project management experience (objective, time, budget)
- Extensive experience with contract negotiations, reimbursements, and biostatistics
- Experience with creating a marketing plan (including situation analysis, SWOT analysis, pricing, promotion, distribution, STP analysis, sales projections, promotional materials, presentations for scientific meetings, and marketing research)
- Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, cardiovascular disease, heart transplantation, and LVAS therapy
- Knowledge of FDA requirements and European regulatory requirements
- Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
- Fluency in English and German, French or Spanish (preferred)
