Position Summary:

A worldwide leader in medical products is seeking a Director of Product Development who will be responsible for research and development of innovative medical devices and components to support the company’s strategic plan. You will have direct responsibility for directing and managing Product Development staff and technical programs of critical importance to the company involving scientific research and understanding, applied technology, and product or process innovations. Part of your responsibility will involve managing a skilled and motivated workforce of engineers, scientists and technicians, and appropriate critical intellectual property.  The qualified candidate will ensure effective cross-functional product development processes with a primary goal of developing innovative, high quality products on schedule.

Primary Responsiblities:

• Responsible for research and development of innovative medical devices and components or subsystems in support of the company’s strategic plan
• Responsible for directing and managing the Product Development staff
• Responsible for technical programs of major importance involving scientific research and understanding, applied technology, and product or process innovations
• Management of a skilled and motivated workforce of engineers, scientists and technicians, as well as appropriate critical intellectual property
• Ensures effective cross-functional product development processes with a primary goal of developing innovative, high quality products on schedule
• Management of production projects, including budget planning, project management and planning

Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline
• Master’s degree is preferred

Position Requirements:

• A minimum of 10 years experience in an engineering environment, developing, designing and specifying products and prototypes with increasing responsibility
• Effectively manage projects
• Must have experience managing people
• Must have strong communication skills both verbal and written
• Must have experience working with cross-functional team members
• Experience with electromechanical, electronic and disposable medical devices is preferred
