Position Summary:
As the Senior Director for Portfolio Strategy for a global Life Science company, you will have a critical role in the identification and evaluation of strategic options to promote growth of the global market. Your responsibilities will include identifying and evaluating intellectual property through acquisition, partnership and licensing opportunities for products and technologies. Using your background in a leading management consultant firm or as an internal consultant in a strategic environment with a pharmaceutical, biopharm or medical device company, you have comfort with ambiguity and a demonstrated ability to identify and define business questions and issues and develop strategic, analytical and financial frameworks to conduct analysis and conclusions.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Partner with other Senior Management, including Marketing and Business Development to pursue identified opportunities
- Lead strategic projects that have significant impact on the direction and performance of the global business
- Team with regional businesses as well as marketing, regulatory, quality, manufacturing, and R&D to help develop and implement the strategic agenda
- Assume a leadership role in the global product planning process, working with the therapy and platform adoption teams
- Provide professional expertise and knowledge of the issues and challenges facing the pharmaceutical industry
Education Requirements:
- Masters and/or PhD or Medical Doctor degree in Life Science, Business or a Medical Field
Position Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in strategy and/or the healthcare industry
- 2+ years in a leading management consultancy company such as BSG, Accenture, Bain; OR 3+ years working in an internal strategic consulting role with a healthcare company
- Prior track record of delivering large or multiple projects successfully to positively influence business outcomes
- Must have a demonstrated ability to identify and define business issues and challenges in the pharmaceutical industry, including Stage Gate Analysis, Financial modeling, Decision models
- Must have an existing network of industry relationships in the pharmaceutical industry
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills for a wide range of contacts
- Proven leadership ability to use organization channels and experience to facilitate successful project implementation
- Ability to maintain perspective and focus on key priorities and to demonstrate sound decision making ability
