Job Summary:
The qualified candidate will hold a Bachelors of Science/Arts in Psychology, Human Factors, Behavioral Science or related field and have a minimum of 3 years of experience. Must have the standards of knowledge relating to HFE principles (user profiles, use cases, conducting usability tests and authorizing detailed design specfications). The proven ability to work within cross functional teams within the Engineering Department with specifics focusing on prototyping. Experience with medical device development is a plus.
The Human Factors Design Engineer selected will be responsible for the interaction design of user interfaces for disposable medical device products, including detailed design specficiations, testing for prototypes and proof of concept.
Key Responsibilities:
- The Human Factors Engineer uses data collection/analysis techniques to conduct user centered research: usability testing, cognitive walkthrough, and contextual inquiry
- Assist with user interface designs, prototypes, and detailed user interface design specification
- Provide subject matter expertise as it relates to human computer interaction
- Be a source of information to internal and external customers
Educational Requirements:
BS or BA in Human Factors, Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Behavioral Science, Computer Science with HCI emphasis, or related field with work related experience in Human Machine Interaction or Usability
Position Requirements:
- Minimum of three years of related experience
- Proven ability working with user interface design team
- Demonstrate skills in collecting and analyzing human behavioral data
- Understand and comply with human factors processes and standards
- Create profiles, personas, work flows, usability, and authoring deatailed work specfications
- Skilled in common graphic design software and rapid prototyping software
- Solid written and oral communication skills
Preferred Experience:
- Medical Device experience
- MS in Human Factors and related area of study; with a minimum of one year of experience
