Senior Marketing Manager

Position Summary:

Our client company is an well-regarded international medical device developer, manufacturer and marketer. The company sports a broad portfolio of innovative and less-invasive products, technologies and services for a wide spectrum of medical specialties. The Senior Marketing Manager will be responsible for executing strategic analysis to contribute to high impact marketing strategies. The qualified candidate should quickly become an expert on the methodologies and processes for assessing the marketplace and identifying key trends. These may include identifying growth opportunities; diagnosing customer behavior changes; understanding competitive dynamics; and measuring the impact of marketing activities to enable and inform more effective marketing strategies.

This is a high profile, high visability position. You must be able to confidently and successfully demonstrate both strong strategic thinking and exceptional communications skills to include a rigorous case study interview process. A MBA, Masters, or similar advanced degree is strongly preferred.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, execute and interpret market research to help formulate marketing strategies
  • Provide expertise in the methodologies and processes for marketplace assessment
  • Identify growth opportunities and diagnose customer needs
  • Test pricing, positioning and messaging strategies to enable effective marketing choices
  • Conduct market and product opportunity assessment
  • Participate in strategy formulation and valuation for existing businesses and potential acquisitions and new internal development opportunities

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or a Clinical or Technical field is required
  • MBA or Master’s degree from a top-tier US or International program is strongly preferred

Preferred Position Requirements (at least one of the following is required)

  • Prior experience with a major consulting firm such as Bain, Boston Consulting Group, Monitor, Accenture, Anderson Consulting, McKinsey, or a medical-focused boutique firm
  • Prior experience with a Marketing Research company such as Atlantic, Market Strategies, Insight, MDBuyline, Huron, ECRI, Healthpoint, etc
  • Prior experience in a leading healthcare organization such as Medtronic, Johnson and Johnson, Abbott, GE Healthcare, etc or major Pharmaceutical company
  • Prior experience with a consultancy or marketing research focus with a major consumer-centric organization such as P&G, Target, Best Buy, “big box retailer” or similar
  • Ability to be an “influencer” to internal and external constituents, physicians, medical industry
  • Position Requirements:

    • Formal training in marketing analytics (MBA - top tier program in the US or international strongly preferred)
    • Ability to be an “influencer” to internal and external constituents, physicians, medical industry
    • A minimum of 3 years work experience including involvement in market research design and implementation
    • Experience working as an external or internal consultant with responsibility for line customers (preferably in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry)
    • Experience designing and executing strategic analysis of customer data
    • Experience in conducting market assessment for existing and potential clients
    • Expertise in the processes for identifying key trends in the marketplace
    • Knowledge and understanding of competitive dynamics and the impact of marketing activities
